Frequently Asked Questions
Creating a meaningful keepsake can feel deeply personal, especially when it includes the fingerprint, handwriting, voice, or memory of someone you love.
Below are answers to the questions I receive most often. If you are unsure about your file, your design, or whether a particular keepsake will work for your needs, please reach out. I am always happy to help.
Ordering Your Custom Keepsake
Will the fingerprint, handwriting, or image look exactly like the original?
Your keepsake is created from the original file you provide, but some adjustments may be needed so the design engraves clearly at a small scale.
Fine details may need to be simplified, adjusted, or positioned differently depending on the shape and size of the piece. My goal is always to preserve the character, movement, and meaning of the original while creating something that will look beautiful and last.
How do I send my fingerprint, handwriting, photo, or sound file?
You may upload your file directly on the product page when you place your order. If
you do not have your file ready at checkout, you can upload it later through
the Upload Files page.
You may also email your file to AdornDesignsJewelry@gmail.com and include your order number so I can match it to your purchase.
What if I am not sure whether my file will work?
Please send what you have.
I can often work with older fingerprints, photos of handwriting, ink prints, clay impressions, voicemails, and imperfect images. I will carefully review your file and let you know if I need something different or if there is a better option for creating a clear, meaningful keepsake.
Can you use handwriting from an old card, letter, note, or signature?
Yes. Handwriting from cards, letters, notes, journals, recipe cards, or saved signatures can often be turned into a keepsake. A clear, well-lit photo or scan works best.
Can I choose the exact part of the fingerprint or handwriting you use?
You are welcome to leave a note with your order if there is a specific area you would like used.
Because each keepsake has a different engraving area, I will use my experience to choose the portion that will read most clearly and beautifully on the finished piece. For fingerprints, this may mean selecting the strongest and most recognizable ridge area rather than using the entire print.
Will I receive a proof before my jewelry is made?
Most jewelry pieces are created using the information and files submitted with your order, without a formal proof process.
If I have a question about your file, personalization, layout, or engraving placement, I will contact you before moving forward. Memorial art prints are reviewed separately and include a proof before printing.
Can I order another keepsake later using the same fingerprint, handwriting, or sound file?
In most cases, yes. I keep cleaned, ready-to-use files on hand so you can order an additional piece for yourself or for family members later.
When placing a future order, simply mention that you have ordered before and I will connect your new piece to the existing file whenever possible.
Soundwave Jewelry
What types of sounds can be turned into a soundwave keepsake?
Soundwave jewelry can be created from voices, voicemails, wedding vows, baby heartbeats, first words, laughter, pet sounds, favorite phrases, and more.
A few seconds of audio is usually all that is needed to create a meaningful waveform.
How long should my audio recording be?
Short clips work best. A few seconds of a meaningful phrase, laugh, heartbeat, or sound will usually create the clearest design.
For longer recordings, I can help isolate the portion that feels most important.
What audio file types do you accept?
Common audio formats such as MP3, WAV, and M4A work well. Voicemail recordings are often usable too.
What if I do not know how to save a voicemail or audio recording?
Visit the Soundwave Information page for guidance, or contact me with what you have. I will help you figure out the easiest way to send it.
Pet Memorial Keepsakes
Can you create a keepsake from my pet’s paw print or nose print?
Yes. I can work with paw prints, nose prints, photos, names, and meaningful wording to create a personalized pet memorial keepsake.
Clear photos or scans work best, but you are welcome to send several options. I will choose the clearest image and let you know if I need something else.
What if I do not have a paw print or nose print?
A favorite photo can still become a meaningful memorial piece. I can simplify the image into a design suitable for an art memorial print that is matted and ready for framing that captures the personality and recognizable details of your pet.
Materials, Craftsmanship, and Personalization
What materials do you use?
Many of my custom keepsakes are handcrafted in solid sterling silver. Specific materials, dimensions, finishes, and personalization options are listed on each product page.
Is each piece handmade?
Yes. Every keepsake is individually handcrafted and personalized rather than mass produced.
Because of that, slight variations in texture, finish, engraving placement, and handmade details are part of what makes each piece one of a kind.
Why might my piece look slightly different from the listing photos?
Listing photos are intended to show the overall design, scale, finish, and possibilities for personalization. Since every piece is handmade and every fingerprint, handwriting sample, soundwave, and photo is unique, no two finished keepsakes will look exactly alike.
Why does the product look larger in some photos?
Some product photos are intentionally taken close up so you can see engraving and handmade detail clearly. Please review the measurements listed in the product description and use a ruler at home if you would like a better sense of scale.
Can you add engraving to a keepsake I purchased from Adorn Designs Jewelry?
In some cases, yes. Not every item has enough space or the right surface for additional engraving, but I am happy to review your piece.
Please contact me before ordering additional engraving so I can help determine what is possible.
Can a bracelet be resized?
Some bracelets can be resized. For leather bracelets, a new leather band and closure are typically made while your original personalized sterling silver bead is reused.
Please see the Bracelet Resizing page for current details.
Production, Shipping, and Gifting

Can I return a custom keepsake?

How should I care for my sterling silver keepsake?
Sterling silver can naturally darken over time, especially when exposed to moisture, lotions, perfumes, or household chemicals.
Store your piece in a dry place when not wearing it, avoid swimming or showering with it on, and clean it gently as needed. Visit the Jewelry Care & Cleaning Guide for more detailed care instructions.
